Opened last summer and now looking for additional staff: the new shuttle warehouse of Baur Hermes Fulfilment, or BHF for short, is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. 150 million euros were invested in the building and above all in its technical interior. Mechatronics engineers, electronics technicians and industrial mechanics are now needed for technical maintenance - and we are also looking for apprentices in the field of mechatronics. 🔧
A day with Nico: keeping technology at the highest level ⚙️
At the logistics campus in Altenkunstadt, people work every day to send parcels on their way. Well over 1,000 people put together orders from About You customers or ensure that the technology runs smoothly. Nico Zitzmann is one of them. He has been working there for 4 years. As Group Leader of Systems Engineering, he is also responsible for the technical support of the shuttle warehouse. "My 60-strong team and I are the first port of call if there's a problem somewhere," explains the 37-year-old. "Of course, faults and breakdowns in the technical systems have to be rectified immediately - after all, customers shouldn't have to wait any longer for their order." An important task that often requires rapid intervention.
To prevent breakdowns from occurring in the first place, well-planned and regular maintenance is part of Nico's daily business. 936 so-called shuttle vehicles, which transport goods containers, are on the road at the BHF logistics center. "Three times a year, we take a close look at each vehicle, service it and get it ready for the next job." The technical teams are also responsible for optimizing the production processes. 💡 For example, on the six kilometers of conveyor technology.
State-of-the-art technology meets team spirit 🤝
Nico appreciates one thing in particular about his working environment at BHF: "We work with state-of-the-art technology here. Our shuttle warehouse is a European leader in terms of equipment. We attach great importance to this. The machines and systems are state of the art."
